Push to bring Sunday markets to Toowoomba CBD

A RETAILERS group is working to bring Sunday markets to the Toowoomba CBD.

City Heart Toowoomba has been working with the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Toowoomba Regional Council to hold the markets in Margaret, Neil and Ruthven Sts.

Chamber CEO Greg Johnson said the proposal had support.

"They are not alone in their goal with many shop owners and potential stallholders voicing support," he said.

An application will soon go to Toowoomba Regional Council.

Up to 100 stallholders are expected.

Plans are to hold the markets on the first Sunday of the month. They will also be held during major events, such as the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and Easterfest.
