UPDATE: Hundreds of Fraser Coast homes still without power

UPDATE FRIDAY 8.15AM: THERE are still a significant number of homes without power across the Wide Bay-Burnett.

Ergon Energy crews are working to restore power to to about 280 people in Hervey Bay (mainly Takura and Craignish), just under 100 in Woodgate and Buxton, just under 100 in Rosedale and Bucca, about 300 in the Kolan region and 80 around Dunmora (near Maryborough).

Also overnight, a storm in the Mundubbera area resulted in about 400 customers having their power supply interrupted just after midnight. Crews are working on that now.

Further north, about 480 customers remain without power in the Miriam Vale area, mainly in Bororen, Turkey Beach and Foreshores.

There are also about a dozen individual customers without supply, most in Hervey Bay.

Main issues were with trees coming down on to the lines and in one case roofing iron being blown into the lines in Takura.

Any customers whose neighbours have supply this morning, but their power remains off should call us on 13 22 96.

We don't have estimated restoration times for most of these outages at this point, but information will be updated in the Outage Finder https://www.ergon.com.au/network/outages-and-disruptions/power-interruptions/outage-finder

Power is out in Craignish, Dundowran, Eli Water and PIalba.

Homes are also without power in Toogoom, Burrum Heads, Howard and Torbanlea.

Here's the breakdown of the power outages:

  • About 3000 customers in Dundowran, Eli Waters, Craignish, Urraween and Pialba
  • About 1700 customers in Burrum Heads and Howard

It's unknown how long the power will be out for at this stage.

Ergon Energy Corporate Communications Manager Rod Rehbein said crews would respond when conditions allow.

"Crews are making safety as their first priority and will then begin the restoration process," he said.
