Tourist taken by crocodile
POLICE fear for the life of a tourist who has been taken by a crocodile in a far north Queensland national park.
A 46-year-old woman from Lithgow, New South Wales, was swimming with a friend at Thornton Beach, in the Daintree National Park, about 10.30pm on Sunday when the crocodile took her.
Police said a friend of the woman tried to drag her to safety but was unable to do so.
The friend was being treated for a graze and shock.
Queensland's last fatal crocodile attack was in 2009 when a five-year-old boy was killed.
