Plant mimics human emotions

Plant mimics emotions in mesmerising video

Ever wondered if plants know exactly how you're feeling?

Well it seems the Dracaena fragrans, otherwise known as a cornstalk dracaena, might be able to do just that in a mesmerising video of the African-native bobbing and bending to the changing moods of the day.

In the three-day time-lapse footage, the plant, a flowering, tropical species, perks up and then, almost emotionally drained, slumps to the floor as the day, seen by the light in the room, waxes and wanes.

However, House Plant Journal owner and blogger Darryl Cheng, who uploaded the video onto his Instagram page, said the plant was simply reacting to the light.

"The 'sudden' drooping seems to occur when the sun is shining directly on the plant," Cheng told Seniors News.

Well, it still seems the Dracaena fragrans is a night person's plant!
