Phone Elder Abuse Helpline if you suspect financial misdeeds

FINANCAL abuse is a common form of elder abuse which can be deinefd as any act within a relationship of trust which results in harm to an older person.

The Queensland Government website said elder abuse could include pension skimming, selling someone's belongings without permission, misusing an Enduring Power of Attorney by taking money or property improperly, forcing a person to change their will or denying someone access or control of their own funds.

If you or someone you know might be experiencing elder abuse, the government has advised people to phone the Elder Abuse Helpline on 1300 651 192 for free, confidential advice in Queensland from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
