Parents rate themselves as more fun on trips away
A NEW survey has found 83% of parents are more relaxed on holidays and 62% admit they are more fun compared to their at-home selves.
The survey also found 59% of Aussie parents admitted they had a different parenting style while away with the kids and 44% of mums said they had the deciding vote on where to travel.
The Wotif How are you travelling survey of 1400 people found more than one in five parents revealed they bring the grandparents along to help out with children on a family trip.
Wotif travel specialist Kirsty La Bruniy said taking the opportunity to get away with the family can give parents some much-needed time out to relax.
"The Australian dollar is not keeping families from taking overseas trips during the school holidays, with many families travelling to popular destinations including New Zealand, USA and Indonesia," she said.
"The Gold Coast remains a favourite domestic destination these holidays, followed by Sydney and Melbourne as the top three family holiday spots."
