Outdoor garden area fails the family test
I WAS a regular to the `old` Coolum Beach Hotel [CBH] and often met with friends and families for a social drink. Sitting outside and chatting away for an hour or two. Great times
This weekend I visited the New CBH with a view to trying out the new outside area. Myself, wife and two nippers popped in to have a drink and enjoy a little `chill out`, take in the air and enjoy.
The garden area looks great, and they have done a great job. Seats look a comfy, nice layout, it was nice and quiet and was about to rest my tired legs until, I read the sign. `Over 18`s Only`.
My child was asleep in the buggy, The 4 year old only wanted to colour in in his new book. I asked staff and they just said, No! they are not allowed!
So I had to go inside, into the area heavily populated with tv screens, tables with uncollected glasses, sticky seats etc.
The kids room has machines tempting to you and your child continuously drop your dollars within. (The ones that work that is.)
What a shame. What a shame our local watering hole has missed the trick and not supported a small element and letting families enjoy the premises.
Gambling over families seems to be the agenda. I'm all for a nice area for adults to relax and I agree, misbehaved children are annoying.
But please, an over 18`s area for the one and only outdoor area is very very poor for a community that thrives and local and visiting families.
Best wishes, DL
