New retirement village planned for Maroochydore town centre

AURA Australia Management has snapped up the last available Maroochydore town centre site, where it plans to develop an apartment style retirement village development.

The 9154sqm site, at the corner of Anzac Avenue and Baden Powell Street, has received council approval for 123 apartments of two and three-bedrooms, within four separate four-storey buildings.

Brisbane's private equity firm Blue Sky has joined forces with Aura to create, develop and operate retirement villages.

"This site fits well with our strategy of positioning our retirement assets close to shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities," Blue Sky's Mr Tim Russell said.

"We plan is to amend the current approval to suit a retirement style development with relevant facilities, but are likely to maintain a similar number of apartments.

"The site is within 100m of the new Stella Maris Aged Care facility which is due to open in early 2017.

"It will provide residents, who may need a higher level of care, with the opportunity to be in close proximity to these services," Mr Russell added.
