A NAME change, a new direction and now the program is set to be released on April 18.
The Noosa Long Weekend presents Noosa alive! for 10 colourful days in July when the Sunshine Coast celebrates the good life: music, food, theatre, seminars.
"We love the name for its simplicity, but more importantly because it perfectly captures the energy of the performers, the enthusiasm of our wonderful volunteers and the sheer creativity the festival exudes over ten magical days and nights," President Johanne Wright said.
"The name change is important because the Noosa Long Weekend Festival has evolved into something much bigger than a regional arts festival.
"These days it is a potent mix of the three ingredients people are looking for: great food and wine events and world class entertainment all set in an idyllic location.
"There is no other event in Australia that incorporates all these elements as well as we do.
"We're proud of the way Noosa comes alive for our festival, hence the name, Noosa alive!"
While details of the full program won't be announced until April 18, a taste of what is to come includes Opera Australia's full scale production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro with the Chamber Orchestra and featuring a choir of 24 students from Sunshine Beach High.
Tickets are already on sale for this event.
Organisers have appointed Naomi Price as the Noosa alive! 2017 Ambassador.
Naomi will star in her new show, Lady Beatle, paying tribute to the music of the Beatles and centring on the women behind such great songs as Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna and Penny Lane.
"I am honoured to be the Ambassador for the very first Noosa alive!" Naomi said.
"I have extremely fond memories of performing my work in Noosa, and feel very privileged to be representing such a diverse and unique celebration of arts and culture in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
"Noosa alive! is a wonderful opportunity for artists to perform intimate, memorable shows and I am so excited to get the chance to do just that."
Noosa alive! will take place from July 21 through to July 30.
Tickets for Opera Australia's The Marriage of Figaro are on sale now and the entire program will follow on April 18.
