New brand and name likely as FCO plans for the future
THE name and branding of Fraser Coast Opportunities is likely to change as part of a funding renewal for the organisation
On Wednesday councillors voted 7-4 to take the economic development area of FCO back to the council while the entity continued running marketing, events and tourism.
Spirits were running high at the organisation on Thursday morning with staff now certain they have a job after June 30.
After a morning walk on the pier, FCO interim general manager Leigh Bennett was feeling positive about the future of FCO.
"We're just getting on with business as we've always done," he said.
"The sense of limbo we've been in has gone."

But Mr Bennett, who will leave FCO along with chairman Paul Cotton on June 30, said some changes were required.
"It would be timely and sensible to change the name to reflect the tourism and events aspect," he said.
Recruitment of a new general manager and chair will be discussed when the board next meets.
"It's time for me to go," Mr Bennett said.
"The board will be looking to me to guide them in the process - we'll be making it the highest priority."
