Noosa High students exchange letters with Nepal
Noosa District State High School Year 9 humanities students spent today's lesson writing letters of introduction to Nepalese primary students from Shree Panch Pokhari Primary School.
NDSHS Year 9 humanities teacher Miss Muir will be teaching at the Shree Panch Pakohari School over the school holidays as a part of a humanitarian project, involving a few teachers from South East Queensland.
The letters will be delivered to the Nepalese primary school students next week, with responses written to the NDSHS students planned as one of the lesson activities at the primary school.
The Nepalese primary school students are learning English as a part of the curriculum, and they will no doubt enjoy reading about the Noosa lifestyle, with beaches something many Nepalese have never seen or experienced, due to Nepal being a mountainous and landlocked country.
The NDSHS students look forward to learning more about the Nepalese culture, geography, food and ways of life through the letters written by the primary school students.
This cultural letter writing exchange will assist in developing empathy, respect and intercultural understandings for both the Nepalese and NDSHS students.
