Murphy’s Coming to America, again

IT has been 30 years since Eddie Murphy's film Coming to America hit theatres.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter states that a sequel is in the works.

Jonathan Levine, the director of Warm Bodies and Snatched, will direct the new film, while Black-ish creator Kenya Barris will join Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, who penned the 1988 original, to write the script.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Murphy is helping to develop the sequel and is expected to star.

Coming to America followed the story of Prince Akeem, who travels from his wealthy African country to Queens, New York in order to escape an arranged marriage and find a wife who will love him despite his title.

Arsenio Hall co-starred as his loyal handler, while James Earl Jones, Shari Headley and Eriq La Salle also featured in the hit.

Murphy teased a possible sequel months ago in a since deleted tweet that featured Coming to America co-star Vanessa Bell Calloway with the caption: "Coming to America sequel?"
