SO WHAT happens when a reality TV villain doesn't live up to the hype?
My Kitchen Rules viewers have lashed out on social media after Melbourne lawyer Zana's confidence turned out to be well-founded.
She and husband Gianni knocked Anna and Jordan off the top of the leaderboard tonight, scoring an incredible 97 out of a possible 110 points for their Albanian and Italian heritage inspired instant restaurant.
After talking themselves into a corner, the legal eagles cooked their way out of it - much to the disappointment of viewers.
It might have taken Zana three attempts to make her own filo pastry but her perfectionism paid off with two perfect scores from judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel for her entrée.
"I hate to say it but I'm disappointed that I don't have any more to eat," Feildel said.
"I've never been so excited just to dig in. The fact that you made your own filo is a bit tick for me.
"For me it's perfect thank you."
The feedback sent tears rolling down Zana's face; luckily she appeared to be wearing waterproof mascara.
But excitement gave way to nerves as they served up their divisive main course - calf liver.
"You've been around this table really confident about yourself and your cooking and now you're standing here shaking like a leaf," Feildel said.
"If you have to introduce cow's liver to someone who's never had it, even a kid, this is possibly the best recipe you can offer."
There wasn't a bad word around the table about the livers, with low-scoring cougar and cub Cheryl and Matt admitting they were ready to pack their bags after the impressive first two courses.
A single doughnut served up for dessert was a bit of a letdown, though, as Zana and Gianni's guests were left wanting more.
"Your Krofne was excellent… I just have to question if it's enough for dessert," Evans said.
"There's one of them on the plate with the ganache.
"Let's take it to the next level."
Not even strategic voting could have saved Cheryl and Matt, who were the first team of the season to be eliminated.
The second group of instant restaurants will begin tomorrow night.
