Meet the little piglet changing lives one oink at a time
LIFE is anything but a 'boar' at TriCare Aged Care in Kawana, as residents were treated to a stopover from a very special and somewhat noisy guest, April Lee the piglet.
Lifestyle coordinator Naomi Joli said the visit from Old Macdonald's Travelling Farm is a monthly highlight for residents.
"Some of the guests who barely leave their room will always come out for the animals," she said.

Pet therapy is used by the facility to help maintain both physical and mental health for residents. Mrs Joli said it could help reduce stress, loneliness and blood pressure. The remedy is also proven to release mood-enhancing endorphins.
During her hour-long visit April Lee got up to all kinds of mischief.

She made the rounds throughout the village getting up close and personal and bringing smiles to more than 20 residents.
Farm franchisor Ann Richardson said the visits from animals often brought the elderly a sense of homeliness and comfort.
"We visit a lot of nursing homes because often in their years they often lived on farms or even in their own homes they had chickens and goats. When we visit it's nostalgia of their youth and they really look forward to it," Mrs Richardson said.
