AUSSIE actor Margot Robbie married her longtime boyfriend in December last year - or did she?

A new report suggests they wed years ago.

It has been widely reported that Robbie, 27, and British film director Ackerley exchanged vows in a secret ceremony on the Gold Coast of her native Australia last year. But the Goodbye Christopher Robin star was overheard at the Hamptons International Film Festival revealing they've in fact been married for a lot longer.

"A guest congratulated her on her first-year wedding anniversary. Margot responded, 'It's been three years," a spy told Page Six.

Margot and Tom met in 2013 on the set of the World War II drama Suite Française in France. Robbie's rep didn't respond for comment.

In an interview with news.com.au this week, Robbie said she was keen to set something straight: life as a movie star isn't all glamorous parties.

"The biggest misconception about me is that people think I spend all my time sitting on a yacht or swanning around at fancy parties. I wish it were true," she said.

"I think people have this idea that making movies is like, 'Oh, you must be on a gorgeous studio lot with a latte in your hand."
