Majestic Sunshine Castle to host Underground Opera stars

THE Underground Opera Company is kicking off its 10th anniversary year with a weekend of performances at the Sunshine Castle, Bli Bli.

Opera in the Castle will feature the world-class talents of Louise Dorsman, Dominique Fegan, Lionel Theunissen and Glenn Lorimer, taking on powerful arias, enchanting ensemble pieces and stunning duets to fill the intimate Banquet Hall that only seats 100 people each night.

UOC director and founder Bruce Edwards said some of the favourite pieces to be performed were from Madama Butterfly, Carmen and La Traviata, and, of course, a show-stopping piece from Nessun Dorma.

"Having launched UOC 10 years ago, I feel privileged to have experienced all the wonderful moments created during this time," Edwards said.

"A big part of this journey has been the exceptional performances at the Sunshine Castle featuring a number of prominent cast members, including our founding performer Glenn Lorimer, who has performed with Scottish National Opera among other world-eading companies.

"A number of our performers have also gone on to to achieve incredible careers throughout the world.

"We can't wait to deliver our Sunshine Castle audiences something truly special and I've selected the most stunning and emotive pieces from our 10-year repertoire."

Opera in the Castle is at 7pm on Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, with a 4pm performance on Sunday, March 26.

Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.com.au or on 5448 4477 and include the Sunshine Castle's canapes at intermission.
