Main St re-opens as Ghost Hill works near completion

MAIN Street over Ghost Hill is open, with a reduced speed limit until the line-marking can be completed.   The 800m rebuild of the street included lowering the water main under the road.   While the road is open, the speed limit will be lowered until the line marking has been completed, said planning and infrastructure portfolio councillor Denis Chapman.   "While the asphalt and bitumen was laid last week, it has to be given time to cure before the line-marking can be undertaken," he said.   "There will be some disruptions to traffic as minor works are undertaken to repair the kerb at Margaret Lin Park which was removed as part of the drainage work, but it will not close the road.   "I'd like to thank residents for their understanding during the roadworks.   "There were a couple of hold ups; more material had to be excavated from the gully than expected and the engineering to prop up the electricity poles at the top of the hill took longer than expected," Cr Chapman said.
