Local bowler shines with silver at state championships

WARREN Fraser, who is a member of 1770 Bowls Club, travelled to Brisbane to play in the Multi Disability State Championships, which was played over four days from Sunday, September 8.

Warren has cerebral palsy and is restricted in his leg movements.

After advancing through to the quarter finals and into the semi finals, he won through to the final which set him up to play the current Australian champion Tony Bonnell.

After winning the first set he lost the second which went to a tie break. Tony won this to take the gold medal.

To win silver was way above Warren's expectations, especially after playing in the championships for the first time last year and not winning a game in the singles.

The 1770 Club members and Warren's parents are proud of his achievement and he can't wait for next year to hopefully bring home gold.
