Living work of art at Lake Kawana Community Centre
RESIDENTS and visitors are invited to head to council's Lake Kawana Community Centre until September 30 and take a 'selfie' with New York City artist Kelsey Montague's #whatliftsyou interactive artwork.
Division 3 Councillor Peter Cox said the #whatliftsyou wings were a council-commissioned interactive public art piece that connected people to the Sunshine Coast through a range of social media platforms.
"The work, which features a large set of wings incorporating themes from across the region, has previously been exhibited at a number of locations and events across the Sunshine Coast and has now landed at Lake Kawana," Cr Cox said.
"Visitors and locals are encouraged to photograph themselves in front of the artwork and share their images through Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites, with the hashtags #sunshinecoastcouncil #LKCC and #whatliftsyou.
"The artwork #whatliftsyou is a perfect addition to Lake Kawana Community Centre as it expresses and enhances the venue's commitment to culture and creativity within the community.
"Lake Kawana Community Centre continues to be a focal point for the local community and is a welcoming venue which people can enjoy a range of activities, expos and events as well as live performances such as theatre, children's entertainment, school holiday programs and all ages live music concerts.
"The venue also features the Lakeview Café serving delicious barista made coffee to complete the experience."
