ANZAC DAY 2016: Guide to Toowoomba region services

CEREMONIES will be held across the Toowoomba region for Anzac Day, the national day of remembrance in Australia, to commemorate those who lost their lives in the first World War and subsequent conflicts.



  • Wall of Memory, Toowoomba Garden of Remembrance, 8am  
  • Memorial service at Toowoomba Railway Station marking the centenary of the 49th Battalion and the rededication of the Honour Board, 9.45am to noon
  • Cross of Sacrifice, Memorial Wall Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery, 3pm



  • Dawn service, Mother's Memorial, 5.15am, marchers assemble at the Neil St bus interchange from 4.30am  
  • Wreath laying ceremony, Mother's Memorial, 9am, wreath bearers assemble Boer War Memorial gates at 8.30am  
  • Mid-morning service, Mother's Memorial, 10am, marchers assemble in Margaret St, west of Ruthven St from 9.15am 

Acland Tom Doherty Park, Acland, 10am  

Cecil Plains Civic services starts at 10am from Cecil Plains Historic Museum  

Clifton Clifton pool, 46 King Street Clifton, 10.45am  

Cooyar  Cooyar War Memorial, Munro Street, 10am  

Crows Nest Centenary park, Charlotte Street, dawn service at 5.30am and service at 10am   

Drayton  Drayton Soldiers' Memorial, Brisbane Street, Assembly starts at 7am for the march to start at 7.20am, service from 7.30am   

Goombungee  Goombungee War Memorial, Mocatta Street, dawn service at 5.30am and service at 10.20am  

Gowrie Junction School Cenotaph, Gowrie Junction State School, dawn service from 5.45am  

Greenmount Greenmount Memorial Hall, Ramsay Street, 9.45am  

Highfields Community court, Highfields Cultural Centre, dawn service starts at 5.45am and service at 9.45am  

Jondaryan Jondaryan War Memorial, Duke Street, 8am  

Kingsthorpe  Memorial Gardens, 2pm  

Millmerran Dawn service starts at 5.30am from Anzac Memorial Park and civic service from 10am at Millmerran Cultural Centre  

Oakey Oakey War Memorial, dawn service at 5.25am and service from 10am  

Pittsworth Dawn service from 4.28am at Cenotaph, Yandilla Street, first World War memorial ceremony at Pittsworth Pioneer Village at 8am and civic ceremony at 11am at Pittsworth Town Hall
