Lifesaver for a day: One-of-a-kind Coast tour

Live It Tours owner and director Maggie Shalhoub said the Aussie Surf Culture Beach Tour offers guests a chance to appreciate the skills and hard work of Mooloolaba surf lifesavers.

"It's all about taking our guests behind the scenes, learning about the history of surf lifesaving, what it means for Australia's culture, and gets our guests involved and walking in the footsteps of a surf lifesaver," Ms Shalhoub said.

The company presents tours in which guests delve deeper into the local lifestyle and culture, and their latest offering, in partnership with the surf club, will run every Saturday from March 11.

Yesterday presented a chance at a practice run for organisers, as Channel 7's Getaway program visited the club for a preview of the tour.

Guests are first brought into the club to meet lifesavers, learn the history of the club and see the lifesavers on the job, before heading down to the beach for surf lifesaving training activities.

The tour wraps up with a social event back at the clubhouse.

The tour is $115 for adults and $85 for children.
