LETTER: To the driver who abused me
SO I may have been driving 45km/h in a 50km/h zone, it was a school bus pick-up area with children standing on the road verge looking like they wanted to cross, I was picking up my daughter, yet you felt the need to use your horn.
Twin cab white ute driver. Was that really necessary?
Lismore roundabouts are a frustration at the best of times. Do you really need someone hurling abuse, verbally and with their horn? How is this going to help the situation?
A year ago a learner driver plowed into my car at the Dawson St and Conway St roundabout.
The car was a write-off but thankfully nobody was hurt.
It has taken a long time for me to regain my confidence while driving, specifically at roundabouts.
Still the abuse unfurls.
No one seems to know how to indicate, it's just guessing it is safe to drive.
A moment's hesitation can unleash profanities from the drivers behind you. Is this you? How are you comfortable with yourself?
When I stopped at the Lismore transit centre to let a person in a walker cross the pedestrian crossing, the man in the car behind me started beeping at me.
Even upon seeing the elderly man with his walker cross the road, basically its like domestic violence, whatever justifications you might like to make. There is no excuse for it.
To the man I saw screaming abuse at a woman with her two children in the car, he thought she had parked improperly, you are so wrong. You are so wrong to think you have the right to behave in this manner.
Remember, people are watching you, they take notice.
To all the lovely Lismore drivers I would like to say thank you, I know you are out there, I see you every day on the streets.
Emma,
South Lismore
