Learn how to plan for later life
COFFS Coast community activist and senior Jill Nash is putting together a course on Planning for Later Life to be offered through U3A Coffs Harbour in 2017.
"I am aware that many people are either in denial about it, apathetic about, it or "gonna do that later," but there are some very important issues when reaching later life," Jill said.
" Ideally it should be done sooner, but better late than never.
"It is all about coping with the inevitable changes of life, and reducing anxiety and stress by good planning and preparation."
The topics her carefully-designed course will cover include personal administration and record-keeping; financial matters; accommodation options; health; well-being; emotional and mental health,; safety and security; access to information and communication; assistance and support; dealing with problems; advocacy, rights and responsibilities and community agencies.
Jill is assembling a team of specialist speakers, and said she had been thrilled by
their willingness to participate.
"There is an acknowledgement of the need to make people better informed - both those likely to require the services, and those caring for and about them," she said.
"Those interested should join U3A (a benefit in itself), where the course is listed. and they can enrol from January 13."
The course will begin on February 7.
