Lantern making fun at Caloundra Library

MAKE your own lantern and join the spectacular lantern parade, led by Gubbi Gubbi dance troupe, the Arte Flamenco Dance School and Sambazzy Samba performers, to light the sky of the Caloundra CBD as part of the Horizon Ignites Lantern Parade as it weaves its way from Minchinton Street to Felicity Park on Friday, September 2.

We'd love the community to get involved in Horizon Ignites by making their very own lantern at a free workshop at the Caloundra Library on Friday, August 26 and Monday, August 29 from 10am until 12.30pm before joining the parade to mark the opening of Horizon - festival of arts and culture.

The library will care for your lantern until the night of the parade when it will be available for you to collect and join all the fun and celebrations. At the end of the parade, you get to take your lantern home to keep.

Participants must be 12+ years. Make sure you bring an old shirt or apron to protect your clothes - this could get messy!

Bookings are essential and can be made by visiting council's library website or calling 5475 8989.

Be a part of the Horizon Ignites lantern parade: We are also looking for 30 adults to take part in the parade to help to walk with and carry the 10 large scale lantern feature pieces.

This is an opportunity not to be missed so if you're interested please email horizon@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au with your details.
