'Kochie' to channel his inner Bogart for calendar

SUNSHINE Coast Daily columnist and Sunrise presenter David Koch has come on board with the Vintage Calendar Girls fundraising project.

David first met Misty Bland during a televised interview about her inaugural calendar project.

The risqué calendar featured 12 Sunshine Coast women of all shapes and sizes and celebrated their beauty while raising money for a good cause.

Ms Bland cheekily suggested "Kochie" might like to appear in the calendar, to which he readily agreed.

This year, he is lined up to take on the persona of Humphrey Bogart in Ms Bland's third annual calendar, which pays tribute to style icons of the '40s and '50s.

"(Bogart is) The classiest actor from the golden years of Hollywood," David said.

"I've always loved him, so if I can channel him for a few minutes that will be worth it."

Despite having cameras rolling on him every morning as Channel 7s Sunrise breakfast show co-anchor, David said he had never been involved in a stylised calendar photo shoot before.

"It has been a lifelong dream to add to my resume," he said.

"I am most looking forward to channelling my inner Zoolander. I've been practising my blue steel look."

David said the calendar, which raises money for Sunshine Coast cancer patients and their families so they can enjoy a break away together, was a "great idea and cause to be a part of".

"Misty is one of those unsung Australian heroes which keep our communities going - a true Aussie who thinks of others before herself," he said.

"We should all be doing things to help her and the cause."

Shooting for the 2018 limited-edition calendar will begin on March 30 at Flaxton Gardens and tickets are already available online for the calendar gala launch on September 8 at Maleny Manor.

To secure your tickets to be among the first to see the calendar, featuring David Koch, Todd McKenney, Cherie Barber, Tamara Wrigley, The Kitty Kats and a host of inspirational Sunshine Coast women, visit www.eventbrite.com.au and search for Vintage Calendar Girls.
