Cute footage hides heartbreaking devastation of drought

IT MUST be one of the most delightful things to watch: newborn lambs cavorting in woolly jumpers.

However, this footage hides the heartbreaking devastation caused by the severe drought gripping Queensland and New South Wales.

These lambs - between two days and a week old -lost their starving mothers as the crippling conditions ravage the parched rural paddocks in Leyburn.

Unable to survive the winter nights without their mothers' warmth, the lambs instead have been kitted out with knitted jumpers.

The nappies are just an essential part of toilet training!

Facebook page called "Lamb Jumpers Helping Our Farmers" was established to help people provide jumpers to farmers in need.
