Knitfest heads to Maleny

KNITFEST - Yarn and Fibre Arts Festival will give visitors the chance to discover new skills and creativity when it comes to Maleny on June 10-12.

The town's streetscape will literally be wrapped in art, as the Knitfest Team "yarnbomb" trees, buildings and inanimate objects.

Other festival highlights will be 2.1m high sculptures made from fibre, guest speakers, workshops, music and craft markets.

Ride the Knitfest Mystic Bus as it weaves its way around the festival precinct as well as taking visitors to Maleny Cheese, Maleny Mountain Wines, Maleny Magic Patchwork and Quilts, Lift and the spectacular Maleny Botanic Gardens.

This 2016 Festival has a lot packed into two full days, including 16 workshops from prominent fibre artists, tree-cosy competitions where groups or business's can choose a tree to decorate, as well as competitions for Best Beanie, Best Scarf/shawl/socks and Best Tea Cosy.

All entries are only $5 and you could win the $200 first prize.

Yarns and fibres on display will include knitting, crochet, basket weaving, spinning, felting and weaving.
