A long day sitting in the office or out in the field can leave both the mind and body stuck in a state of funk.

Some people decide to go for a run after a hard day's work.

Some hit the town. Others just want to relax and watch the afternoon unwind from the comfort of their own home.

And some like to go fly a kite or two.

An aerial spectacular lit up the sky above Alexandra Headlands in Maroochydore on Thursday evening when two kite enthusiasts took advantage of some favourable conditions.

The pair exhibited strength and skill as their kites whipped them across the sand while breaking waves crashed at their feet.

The show attracted several onlookers who marvelled at the duo's ability to turn a near-catastrophic turn into an acrobatic move.

But even as the pair continued their slides and jumps, the onlookers eventually turned for home and for that brief respite before another working day.
