Joyful Christmas story unveiled in windows of David Jones

UNVEILED today is David Jones's heart-warming, family Christmas story on display in the windows of its flagship Elizabeth Street store in Sydney

The store's annual Christmas window display is always a big attraction for tourists and Sydneysiders, young and old.

This year's campaign is called Now It Feels Like Christmas and stars a cute expat gingerbread man.

The story goes like this; like thousands of Australians abroad he yearns for home, his family, and a warmer climate at this time of the year. The gingerbread man embarks on an epic, heartwarming journey home, visiting landmark cities around the world on his way home. Carefully selecting gifts for his loved ones at each destination, he is finally reunited with his family in the windows of David Jones. The animated window display shows the joyous family reunion.

David Jones chief executive officer David Thomas said, "Christmas at David Jones is a truly magical time of year and we are very proud to be a part of the festive traditions of so many Australians.

"Our animated windows are a fun-filled part of this tradition and herald the start of the holiday season for many. The most important and enjoyable aspect of Christmas is spending time and creating memories with loved ones; we hope that our Christmas film captures this sentiment, bringing to life the joy and excitement of Christmas in a uniquely Australian way.

This year's David Jones Christmas campaign will include in-store festivities, Christmas parades and concerts in Melbourne, Brisbane and Wellington, Magic Caves in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Santa photos and Santa PAWtraits in key stores, roaming Santa and Christmas fairies in all stores with a toy department, children's face painting and much more. The David Jones staff choir will once again be performing in David Jones's Elizabeth Street store in the lead up to Christmas.

The Christmas windows are on display until Christmas Day.
