Join the chorus of praise for Buderim Male Choir

THE Buderim Male Choir is about to start a new program for 2017.

The non-profit community group has been very successful in raising funds for local charities and is always looking for new members.

Sing for Life is the choir's motto.

Established in Buderim more than 40 years ago, the choir now boasts members from Caboolture, Tewantin, Glass House Mountains, Nambour and Coolum.

The popular choir is celebrating a successful year in 2016 under the baton of music director Mitchell Meyer and accompanist Carina Frank.

Members have already gathered to discuss the 2017 program and receive their sheet music in preparation for their first concert which will have the theme "Service and Remembrance" - appropriate for Anzac commemorations in April.

This program will include Stout Hearted Men, We Be Soldiers Three, Soldier's Chorus, Naval Hymn, In Flanders Field, Abide With Me, I Vow to Thee My Country and others.

The choir is supported by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the Buderim Foundation.

Over the past two years, the choir has donated $5500 to needy charities and in 2015 raised more than $2000 for the Nepal Earthquake Disaster Fund.

Local groups benefiting from the choir's concerts include Bloomhill Cancer Help, Cittamani Hospice, School Chaplaincies at Buderim and Tewantin, the Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra and the Salvation Army's Christmas Fund for the homeless.

Males of any age who may have a wish to sing on their bucket list and who may be seeking fellowship are invited to join the Buderim Male Choir - especially those with any previous experience.

The choir practises on Monday nights in the Uniting Church in Buderim.
