Jetty Theatre screens "I’ll See You In My Dreams"

IN this vibrant, funny, and heartfelt film, a widow and former songstress discovers that life can begin anew at any age.

Carol (Blythe Danner), is forced to confront her fears about love, family, and death. After her routine is rattled she decides to start dating again and falls into relationships with two very different men.

With the support of three loyal girlfriends (June Squibb, Rhea Perlman, and Mary Kay Place), Carol embraces the world, embarking on an unlikely friendship with her pool guy (Martin Staar) and allows a pal to drag her to a speed dating shindig.

And then there's the gravelly-voiced, exuberant gentleman, Bill (Sam Elliott), who comes out of nowhere….

The authenticity and honesty coursing through every scene of I'll See You in My Dreams perfectly echoes the point of view of its elderly characters, who have no more time for nonsense or pretension, even in the most awkward or emotional moments.

The talented and vibrant supporting cast avoids clichés in favour of nuance and truthfulness.

Blythe Danner was made to play Carol, a beautiful, understated woman resigned to existential realities but certainly not ruling out magic.
