IT’S SHOWTIME: Five rides not for the faint-hearted

THERE has never been a better time to be over 120cm, with the line-up at this year's Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show set to be a squealer.

In just over a week thrill-seekers will be catered for as they talk a walk down sideshow alley, at the Nambour Showgrounds, with a smorgasbord of stops to top your list of entertainment.

1. Ferris Wheel

WHEN the show first kicked off in Woombye in 1900 there were only three sideshow alley rides served up to the hoards of show-goers. Now, the merry go round has been spun on its side and increased in size with the classic ferris wheel a permanent fixture.

Sit back with a cup of chips in hand and look down below at all the action as you rotate slowly 20m above the ground.

2. Rebel

TOMATO sauce from your dagwood dog will be the only thing you're wiping from your face if you take to the sky for this ride, because your smile will be stuck.

The newest ride on the show circuit from Chants Amusements will be spinning and propelling you high for the first time at this year's show.

3. Freestyle

IT towers at 50m tall, and is some stiff competition for the newly added Rebel amusement ride.

The Freestyle is back for another year, and will have show-goers travelling at about 80km an hour as you back flip through the air.

Definitely one for the thrill-seeker.

4. Rockstar

LONG hair and a penchant for loud music won't keep you safe from the Rockstar.

You must be over 120cm to step up to this ride, and while it doesn't flip you back and forth at high speeds, it moves around in circles stopping midway to change direction.

Your legs will fly about as you grip onto the headrest and howl with joy.

5. Dodgem Cars

THEY are firm fixtures at most shows throughout the state, and while they've dodged the Sunshine Coast in previous years, for 2016 expect to get behind the wheel on the dodgem cars - for all ages and all levels of excitement.

Saddle up with a friend, or meet them on the floor for some light-hearted competition.
