Inspiring Australian set to visit Toowoomba

LEGENDARY media trailblazer, businesswoman, best-selling author, committed community and welfare contributor and 2013 Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose is set to visit Toowoomba.

Ms Buttrose will make her visit in support of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation at its second Women of Strength luncheon at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Friday, July 7.

More than 450 guests are expected to attend the three-course luncheon and listen to Ms Buttrose's inspirational presentation.

Twice voted Australia's most admired woman, Ms Buttrose has seen a lot of firsts in her career.

She was the youngest  editor of The Australian Women's Weekly, the founding editor of Cleo, the first woman to edit a major metropolitan newspaper in Australia as Editor-in-Chief of the Sydney Daily and Sunday Telegraphs, and the first woman director of News Limited.

She currently co-hosts Studio 10 on Network TEN.

Ms Buttrose has also contributed significantly to issues of community and welfare in Australia, in particular mental health and ageing, currently serving as the National Ambassador of Alzheimer's Australia, Patron of the Macular Disease Foundation and Emeritus Director of Arthritis Australia.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation chief executive officer Alison Kennedy said it would be an honour to host Ms Buttrose for the Women of Strength luncheon.

"The funds raised on the day will be used to support the Toowoomba Hospital's midwifery department," Mrs Kennedy said.

"Ita Buttrose is an inspirational women of strength to so many Australian women so we thought it fitting to use this event to support this vital unit within the Toowoomba Hospital.

"The inaugural Women of Strength lunch in 2016 sold out in just four days, so we are encouraging all ladies in the region who are interested in attending this event to get in quick and purchase their tickets."

Tickets are $140 per person (or table of 10 for $1400), which includes a three course lunch and beverages, and can be booked at
