Iconic Golders location left to history over parking woes

TOOWOOMBA'S Golders store is preparing to move from their iconic location on Margaret St after owners were sick of ongoing parking woes.

Golders will host a closing down sale before moving across to their new site on the corner of Hume and Bridge Sts.

The site previously housed Rhonda's Refits.

Store owner and Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Tyson Golder said he was looking forward to the move, expanded parking options and change in direction for the iconic business.

He said the timeline meant the store Margaret St needed to be closed down, cleaned out and ready for new tenants by the end of their lease in October.

This means Golders Margaret St closing date is planned for around late August or early September.

The store will see a reduced line and focus on the most popular products.

Mr Golder said there had been a tenant lined up for the current Margaret and Dent St site, but that had fallen through, pushing back the move date.

"We have some work in the new shop that will get done late July or August," he said.
