THE Sunshine Coast will play host to the 47th Jaguar National Rally next month, with Australian and New Zealand Jaguar clubs and their cars descending on the region for over a week of activities.

Based at Oaks Oasis Resort in Caloundra, the rally will host a display day with over 200 Jaguars and Daimlers expected, a track day at Lakeside Park, local cruises and a post rally tour through South East Queensland.

One of the organisers, Ian McKinney, who is chairman of the Jaguar Drivers Club Sunshine Coast and owner of a 1977 Daimler XJC, said having the Jaguar National Rally on the Coast was a great honour, and gave locals the chance to see a vast array of classic and modern Jaguars, and even enter their own for free at the Pacific Jaguar Display Day on April16.

"You don't have to be a registered club member to show your Jaguar or Daimler, and we're seeking more entries at this stage.

"We're expecting around 200 cars on show, so owners can contact me with their car details so we can group models accordingly," he said.

Mr McKinney said spectators could expect to see classics such as E-Types, XK140s, XK150s and XJ6s, all the way up to modern Jaguars, with some of the very latest being shown by Maroochydore's Pacific Jaguar.

"Jaguar is an iconic marque, a symbol of grace, pace and space," he said.

The weekend kicks off for club members with a cocktail party at Oaks Oasis, followed by the main show at Apex Park, Golden Beach, the following morning.

On Sunday some of the Jags will head to Lakeside Park for a regularity event at the race circuit, while the region will be awash with attendees cruising around the Blackall Range, coastal roads and to Australia Zoo.

After the weekend activities, around 30 cars will continue the adventure on a five-day post rally tour of South East Qld, starting at Golden Beach.

The Jags and Daimlers will head to Gympie and then up to Fraser Island, before heading out bush via Childers to Gayndah, then down to Kingaroy, the Bunya Mountains National Park, over the Northern Darling Downs and into Toowoomba.
