Heritage-listed former CBD hotel now up for sale
IT'S one of the most distinctive buildings in the Toowoomba CBD - now this former hotel could soon have new owners.
The 105-year-old White Horse Hotel at 456 Ruthven St is up for sale, with agents LJ Hooker Commercial looking for potential owners to make an offer.
The heritage-listed building in the heart of Toowoomba has been owned by Brisbane-based P&A Cottell Investments for a decade, with eight tenants now based across two floors.
LJ Hooker principal Mike Stewart said the property was worth about $2 million, but said the price would be determined on offers.
"It's probably one of the best-preserved buildings in the CBD," he said.
"It's got a lovely first floor and great ground-floor retail.
"It's an older building and it's got some issues, but the location is exceptional."
The White Horse was bought by P&A Cottell Investments for $1.75 million in 2007 according to RP Data, with the building changing hands five times since 1989.
Businesses such as Cinnamon Blue Fashion, Minx Hair Boutique and Black Canvas are all tenants.
The building was built in 1912 as a hotel, with its unique early 20th century facade a familiar sight on Ruthven St.
