Healthy meals home-delivered as part of Home Care Packages
MEAL delivery options are part of the Home Care Package program changes which came into place on February 27, 2017.
Approved meal delivery providers can deliver a fully prepared, nutritional meal to clients who meet the nutrition assistance eligibility criteria.
Ensuring each day healthy meals are part of a client's well-being is an important component of a Home Care Package and to continuing independent living.
Tender Loving Cuisine is an approved supplier.
TLC provides a choice of meals which can be delivered to metropolitan Sydney, central coast, Newcastle, north coast, south coast, southern highlands, Melbourne, Geelong, Mornington Peninsula, Bellarine Peninsula, the Gold and Tweed coasts.
Chief executive officer Jack Barker said, "We are seeing an increasing number of CDC and NDIS package recipients requesting their care providers organise health accredited, home delivered meals as part of their package”.
"There is often confusion regarding home delivered meals being available within a package, as food is technically not covered.
"Food purchased as part of normal grocery shopping can't be claimed under the package, however delivered meals, including its delivery, cost can be claimed.
"We are also seeing an increasing number of care providers provide in-home meal preparation services for their clients with specific dietary requirements or food intolerances seeking options to reduce potential risk.
"Often a home support worker may be under-qualified to perform this type of specialist meal preparation,” Mr Barker said.
TLC offers a choice of 75 nutritious and portion-controlled, home-style cooked, balanced meals including heart friendly, gluten free, dairy free, low salt or diabetes friendly.
It can supply main meals, soups, side dishes and deserts.
To book a meal delivery, a Home Care Package client should talk to their care provider who can then contact TLC for meal option information or go to https://www.tlc.org.au.
