MEMBERS dressed in orange and black to create a festive Halloween theme at their October meeting. VIEW Clubs support the work of the Smith Family in helping disadvantaged Australian school children succeed in their education, while offering fun friendship opportunities to their members. OUR next luncheon is on November 15 at the South Tweed Sports Club from 11am for a 11.30am start. Guest speaker this month is podiatrist Maddison from My Foot Doctor. AT OUR last meeting held at the Southport Yacht Club was on October 17 and guest speaker was Luke Mathers. He spoke on his visit to Vanuatu to help rebuild schools and community centres from recycled plastics after the destruction caused by 'Cyclone Pam'. Luke is also an optometrist and helped a number of locals restore their sight. His talk was both amusing and enlightening. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 11.30am. Our next meeting will have guest speaker David Lomman on Men's Health and a fashion parade with Kelly Bradford, "The Style Forum", Super Q Shopping Centre We invite members to join us. AFTER visiting Redland Museum earlier in the year, Gold Coast Historical Museum Volunteers were able to reciprocate by welcoming a bus load of Redland Museum Volunteers for a morning excursion on October 10. It was a lovely day for all involved. The sun was shining, morning tea was a spread of home-made deliciousness including scones with jam and cream and then it was time for everyone to have a good look around the Museum, meet our Volunteers and explore the gardens and then head to the Southport RSL for lunch. The Gold Coast Historical Museum is located at 8 Elliott St, Bundall and is wheelchair friendly, with plenty of onsite and off-street parking. Entry is $5 per person or we can cater for morning tea if you have a special outing you would like to plan. Otherwise a tea and biscuit is always available as part of your entry fee. Open every Tuesday 9am-1pm, Wednesday 9am-1pm and Sundays 10am-3pm. Membership is just $20 per year. Email stsocbun@bigpond.com.

THE exquisite experience of sun-deck viewing and smooth water cruising with Surfers Paradise River Cruises, was reflected in the happy faces of the Burleigh Heads Ladies Probus Club. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at Burleigh Heads Surf Lifesaving Club. Morning Tea is enjoyed at 10am, followed by a meeting at 10.30 am, which includes an interesting speaker. MANY members recently enjoyed a 5 day tour to South West Qld and Lightning Ridge, while others had a Picnic at Preston Park, and at our meeting Maggie Muurman provided us with a great insight into the many aspects involved in Coastal Management on the Gold Coast. Retired or semi-retired men are invited to join us at Club Meetings, 10am, on the third Monday of each month at Burleigh Waters Community Centre, 131 Christine Ave. Burleigh Waters. TWEED HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

WE ARE having a Mini Fete on Saturday, November 24 in the Civic Centre, Brett St, Tweed Heads. Doors open 8am and close 2pm. We will have lots of stalls, including craft, pre-loved clothes, Christmas gift lines as well as refreshments and a BBQ. Put the date in your diaries and come along and pick up some bargains. Christmas Raffle tickets will be sold on the day. First prize is $500 cash with 3 other prizes. The raffle will be drawn on December 14. Recycling plastic bottles - the Auxiliary name will be on the donation button at the recycling station in Tweed City from November 26 to February 24. Why not save your recyclable bottles and take them along to 'return & earn'. All monies raised will go towards equipment for the hospital.

OUR next Meeting will be on Monday, January 14 2018 which follows our Presentation Lunch in December. Venue will be South Tweed Sports Club, Minjungbal Drive, South Tweed in the downstairs auditorium. Guest speaker for January will be 'Country Women's Association' and another surprise speaker. Our Guest Speaker in November was Shelly Gilbert with her "Beezwax Wraps". An alternative to wrapping & sealing with plastic. An awesome success. The hall opens at 8.30am (NSW) or entry and benching.
