We have a winner: Grafton family claims lotto first prize

FRIDAY UPDATE, 3PM: The mystery of who won NSW Lotteries' Set for Life game with an unregistered ticket purchased at Grafton Shoppingworld News has been solved after a local family came forward to NSW Lotteries today.

The local family will now be receiving $20,000 every month for the next 20 years.

"I saw a post on Facebook last night about a missing Set for Life winner who purchased their winning ticket in Grafton," the excited winning wife explained.

"I knew I had bought my Set for Life ticket from that newsagency so I got the winning numbers off the NSW Lotteries website and checked my entry.

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that I had all the winning numbers!  I got my husband to check my ticket and then I rechecked it about twenty times before I let myself believe I'd won!

"It's such a surreal feeling when you realise you've won - it's hard to explain. I haven't slept since then although I have stopped shaking now!

"I can't even get my head around the fact that we'll be receiving $20,000 a month for the next 20 years - it's just so wonderful!

"My husband and I love our jobs so we won't be quitting. There will be lots of holidays on the horizon though - twenty years of holidays!"

The winners have chosen to remain anonymous.

Across the country, the Grafton family's entry was the only ticket that won in Set for Life draw 293. It is the fifth time someone in New South Wales has won since Set for Life launched in August 2015.

A Set for Life draw is conducted every night of the week, 365 days each year, and players can start their seven-day Set for Life entry on any day of the week.

THURSDAY: What would you do if you won $20,000 a month for the next 20 years?

If you purchased a Set For Life ticket in Grafton this week, you might find out.

Set For Life officials are on the hunt to find the first prize winner of last night's Set For Life draw, draw 293, and have confirmed the entry was purchased at Grafton Shoppingworld News.

Shoppingworld News owner Rose Driver said she was extremely happy to discover her outlet had sold the winning Set for Life ticket.

"It's beautiful. We're so thrilled to know that one of our customers will be getting $20,000 every month for the next 20 years," Ms Driver said.

"We have so many regular customers but we also have a lot of people that are travelling though Grafton so this winner and the prize winning Set for Life ticket could be anywhere."

"We're just keen to hear that our customer has discovered the life-changing news and that they can look forward to being Set For Life."

As the winning entry is unregistered, however, they have no way of contacting the winner and Set For Life spokesperson Belinda McDougall urged all players who purchased an entry to check their tickets as soon as possible.

The winning numbers in the draw were 14, 9, 16, 13, 24, 11, 2 and 5, with the bonus numbers 8 and 37.

Anyone who believes they are holding the winning ticket can keep it in a safe place and contact NSW Lotteries immediately to start the prize claim process.
