Golden syrup dumplings: The perfect end to dinner

INGREDIENTS 

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup (80ml) golden syrup

100g butter

1 1/2 cups self-raising flour

3/4 cup milk

METHOD

In a large saucepan, combine two cups of water, brown sugar, 1/4 cup (60ml) golden syrup and half the butter. Stir over a low heat until melted.

In the meantime, rub in remaining butter into the flour. Combine milk and remaining golden syrup. Stir into the flour mixture until well combined dough.

Bring the sauce to the boil then drop heaped dessert spoonful's of the dough into the sauce. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered for 15 to 20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Be careful not to over cook or they may become as hard as bullets. Serve with ice cream or cream. Delish!
