Gogglebox stars welcome first child

Gogglebox has a brand new cast member with the birth of Sarah Marie and Matty Fahd's first child.

The fan favourites on the Foxtel series, who share the couch with their mate Jad Nehmetallah, announced their baby boy was born yesterday, naming him Malik George Fahd.

Matty took to Instagram to share the heartwarming news, paying an adorable tribute to his wife.

"Sarah is doing very well and was an absolute legend throughout," he wrote.

"Malik, I will love and protect you for the rest of my days."

Sarah Marie and Matty, who have been together for five years, told of their pregnancy in May while opening up about their difficulties falling pregnant.

"Having experienced the constant questioning around 'when are you having a baby?' it can be a frustrating question and a lonely road for the couple trying," Matty said.

"We want to acknowledge those people, and although no words can make you feel better, Sarah and I would like to send every bit of positive energy your way."

It hasn't been smooth sailing for the couple, with Sarah Marie, a make-up artist, also revealing she got the scare of her life four weeks into her pregnancy.

"The worst thing about pregnancy is the whole stigma of not being able to tell anyone you're pregnant in the first trimester," she said.

"I found it very difficult. Not being able to tell anyone what you are going through really sucked for me.

"The first four weeks of my pregnancy I was spotting and was in a lot of pain."

She rushed to the hospital where doctors believed she could be miscarrying.

"People were talking to me and prepping me like I was having a miscarriage, saying it is very normal," she said.

Sarah said she later found out it was common to spot and have pain in the beginning of your pregnancy, and to her relief, her baby boy was fine.

"I was crying. I was so upset, especially when you're trying to have a baby and you finally fall pregnant, and suddenly people are telling you you're most likely going to miscarry instead of 'these are the possibilities'."

Gogglebox Australia will return to Foxtel with a new season early next year.
