Classic films: When the silver screen was truly silver

THEY certainly don't make them like they use to!

Never has that saying been more appropriate than in the film industry where today's big budget movies continually amaze in quality, style, technology and production.

But it wasn't always like this.

For the most part, early films would be shot in black and white, used actual film, the cameras were bigger and the stories were less based on action or special effects.

These movies spoke of a different time, a different range of issues and played out to a different range of audiences. Who remembers an intermission?

To celebrate those early films and how they were the building blocks for the evolution of the industry, Seniors News has put together this montage of unforgettable scenes from some of your favourite movies.

So sit back, grab the popcorn and take a trip down memory lane.
