Glennie girls secure championship trifecta
THE annual Darling Downs and South West Region Interschool Equestrian Championships three-day event was held in Dalby and attracted 116 riders from 28 schools.
A little luck and a lot of skill enabled 25 girls from Glennie Equestrian to secure their second consecutive Darling Downs and South West Champion Primary School, Champion Secondary School and Grand Champion School awards.
Junior Years girls Holly Willmington, Grace Muirhead and Eve Muirhead had an outstanding championship as a champion primary team in the showman, combined training, dressage and show horse disciplines.
Stand out performances from the secondary school riders ensured a champion win in the dressage event and reserve champion wins in the showman and show horse events.
Grace Muirhead (Year 6) is to be congratulated for successfully defending her 2014 Showman title.
Grace was Glennie's most successful rider at the championships, securing the Summers Family Trophy for the primary or secondary student who won the most points on the same horse.
Riders will focus on training for the State Interschool Equestrian Championships to be held in Maryborough June 28 to July 1.
