Events not to miss on the Sunshine Coast in April

THERE is lots to do all across the Sunshine Coast throughout April. Here are just a few ideas.

1. BUSH TRANSLATIONS

LOCAL ARTISTS Neville Field, Cholena Drew Hughes and Peter Hughes will display their botanic gardens works, made with mixed media of charcoal, paint, found objects, linoblocks and cyanotype at Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens, 51 Palm Creek Road, Tanawha. April 7 to 16, from 10am to 4pm.

2. SOUTH QLD CARAVAN AND CAMPING, BOATING AND FISHING EXPO

SHOWCASING the latest in caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes, boating, vehicles, auto and 4x4 accessories, camping gear and outdoor accessories from 140 exhibitors, the show is on from April 21 to 23 at Nambour Showgrounds, open Friday and Saturday 9am to 5pm, and Sunday 9am to 4pm.

3. WOOD EXPO

AMAZING timber products by furniture, toy, musical instrument and box-makers, whittlers, carvers and everything in-between will be on display at Maleny Showgrounds. There will be native plants and local produce to purchase, natural resource management displays and more. From April 29 to May 1, from 9am to 4pm daily.

4. HEART WEEK 2017

JOIN the learning about maintaining a healthy lifestyle during Heart Week. On at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Village Park on April 29 from 9am to 12pm with free parking, there will be cooking demonstrations, health talks, free vascular checks and prizes to be won.

5. ANTIQUES AND COLLECTABLES FAIR

ANTIQUES galore will be at the Sunshine Coast Antique Bottles and Collectables Show to be held at the Caloundra Indoor Sports Stadium, North Street, Caloundra on April 29 at 9am to 5pm and April 30 from 9am to 3pm. Entry $12.

6. AUSTRALIAN BODY ART FESTIVAL

WONDERLAND is this year's theme for the body and wearable art creations that will excite and entertain any age with the range of colourful creations. The festival is on April 8 and 9 at Mill Place Precinct and Apex Park, Cooroy.

7. ANIMAL FANFAIR

NOOSA Regional Gallery' current exhibition is Animal FanFair: Humans - Animals - Environment which draws attention to humankind's changing relationships through the works of 10 artists. On until April 23.

8. STRUCTURING YOUR MEMOIR

HOW to write your memoir and personal story with tips on what to put in or leave out. Where do you start, and where do you stop? How do you shape your story so that it's a page-turning narrative. Find out at Noosaville Library on April 29, from 1pm to 2pm. Entry is free, but bookings are required.

9. CLOSE ENOUGH: YOUNG QUEENSLAND ARTISTS

DISCOVER works Queensland artists using a variety of media in this exhibition exploring issues from the personal to the political, demonstrating the diverse ways in which artists make sense of the world and their place within it. On at Caloundra Regional Gallery until April 13.

10. TOXINS IN PRODUCTS

FIND out more about the ingredient lists in the personal care products you use on a daily basis. Discover the 12 main ingredients used in common products such as toothpaste, skincare, cosmetics, shampoo and shower gel. On at Maleny Library on April 29, 10am to 11.30am. Entry is free, but bookings are essential.
