Forty years volunteering recognised for Rhondda

THE Sunshine Coast Council's Australia Day Environment Award has gone to a volunteer of four decades in community and environmental organisations.

Rhondda Alexander has held positions including president of the Friends of Currimundi Lake group, group leader and founder of TurtleCare Currimundi Beach, and coordinator of Clean Up Australia Day, Currimundi Lake.

She is passionate about involving young people in caring for the environment and has organised education displays at community events to encourage other people to do their bit.
