READERS DISCUSS: What forehead kissing means

A READER of The Bulletin asked if a post could run on the newspaper's Facebook page about kissing.

The reader wanted to know what other people thought kissing someone's forehead meant.

Here are what readers said:

Clare Osborne: When I kiss my teenagers on the forehead they think they can wipe it off with their hands. I say that they are rubbing it in so that it lasts forever.

Sharon Dengate: A deep love and emotional connection. The person really loves/respects you if they choose to kiss your hand or forehead. (Just my observation though).

Anita Louise: A forehead kiss, to me, is a symbol of protection. A sign of respect and loyalty. A promise to love, care, and protect someone physically. It says I love you and I'll do anything for you.

Amy Shepherd: We always kiss our dad on the forehead. When we were younger he was a house painter and always had sunscreen on except his forehead which was covered by his hat...so that where we kissed him bye in the morning. I guess it stuck.

Maria Finlay-Frenken: a kiss on the forehead means I love you and I care about you.

Patsy Mcdonald: Any kiss is better than no kiss.

Dee Patterson: Deep love, protection, comfort, respect. A true connection.

Dora Huth: Pure endearment.

Jim Mac: it means - you're going home alone tonight.

Waters Dragonfriend: Love respect and affection.

Terry Grant: At least you tried.

Rosemary Colwell: Comfort and affection.

David Evans: Whats your temp.

Jennifer Moss: Depends who it's from.

Greg Tarlington: I'm not handsome anymore.

Tracey Sorensen: Depends on the situation. With my kids it meant either 4 things.....1) I'm taking your temp, 2) I love you, sleep tight and don't wait up throughout the night because Mummy is tired, 3) I'm kissing your headache/pain away, 4) I'm sucking your brains out.

Dane Devize Heslin: It means "You'll be sleeping with the fishes tonight".

Maria Kalpaxis: It's a respected by an older family member who's wishing you the best.

Grey Wombat: Affection.

Karen Bryant: A kiss to the soul.

Joanna Palmer: Its the best sort of kiss.
