First day student reminisces back 75 years
YOUR STORY: Clare Kearney (nee Keogh) has her ticket and is looking forward to attending Our Lady of Lourdes 75th Celebrations on October 31.
Clare recalls her time at Our Lady of Lourdes fondly.
She was a first day student when the school opened in 1940 and recalls the walk from her family home in Brodribb Street up the hill to Ascot Street, Newtown.
Clare still has an inscribed book she received as an award while she was a student at Lourdes.
A 1940s themed dinner dance will take place in the school hall on October 31 to celebrate the school's 75th anniversary.
Tickets are $55 each and include dinner and a drink on arrival.
A cent sale, lucky door prize, live jazz performances by St Ursula's and Downlands College students, The Weatherby's band, and art and memorabilia displays have been included in the program with a commemorative cookbook and other items on sale at the event.
A 9.30am mass on November 1 will be followed by morning tea and a tour of the school.
Past and present members of the Our Lady of Lourdes Community are warmly invited to attend the activities.
