Firefighters return to grassfire twice overnight

TWO Warwick fire crews were called back to a grassfire on Dragon St twice last night after it reignited.

The fire started burning about 1.30pm yesterday with ten crews responding to the scene.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze about 3.50pm but the fire burnt about five hectares of land.

A spokesman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the crews were first called back to the grassfire near Cleary St about 7.30pm.

Trees had fallen and caused the fire to start burning again.

The spokesman said firefighters had again contained the blaze by 8.35pm but were again called back about midnight.

Reports indicate wind had caused a few hot spots and a tree to reignite.

Crews contained the grassfire and left the scene about 12.35am.

The spokesman said the grassfire was burning safely within containment lines.
