Gladstone Indian Cultural Community welcomed the start of spring with their annual Holi Festival celebrations at Spinnaker Park on Saturday.

A festival ushering the spring season and the triumph of good over evil that originated from India, Holi Festival is not only known as a "Festival of Colors" but also looks beyond one's race and sends out the message of unity, love, and friendship.

Holi is often characterised by scores of people throwing paint around, and the event in Gladstone was no different with all members getting into the act of covering each other in dry colour powder.

Holi is the Hindu festival that welcomes the spring and celebrates the new life and energy of the season.

Although Holi has religious roots, not much religious activity is involved in its celebration.

The religious side is not really the main attraction,it is really about running around throwing powdered colour at each other and socialising with lots of other people.
