Explore the new-look, modern refurbished Kawana Library

BE among the first library lovers to experience the vibrant, inviting and modern refurbished Kawana Library at a free morning tea on June 30 at 10am.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said the community was invited to join him at a morning tea to celebrate the new look, contemporary space at Kawana Library.

"The changes reflect council's commitment to investing in this much-loved library service to ensure it remained relevant and responsive to new and existing audiences," Cr Connolly said.

"The $230,000 refurbishment delivers a vibrant and fresh facility for everyone in the community to enjoy."

Cr Connolly said from the moment you walk into the library you are greeted with striking murals of local landscapes.

"One of the elements incorporated into the refurbishment is the ribbon seating, which winds around the perimeter of the library," Cr Connolly said.

"There are many casual and comfy seating areas for people to enjoy while reading newspapers, a favourite book, using the free Wi-Fi and much more.

"The young adult area will be a very popular space to read the latest range of manga novels or to research for homework.

"Of course our youngest members won't miss out. They will love the picture book snake, the colourful storytelling chair and the pirate ship to explore.

"The quiet workspace area has already proven to be very popular with the computers in constant use.

"From the life-sized photographs of local flora on the walls to the floating display boxes holding a myriad of art, craft and collectables our libraries are providing a true cultural experience.

"I encourage anyone who hasn't been into Kawana Library lately to come and experience the new space."
